On 27 January,2003, AU signed an agreement with Brunel University (UK) which marked the beginning of the academic collaboration between the two universities.

The induction day for the first batch of AU undergraduate and post-graduate studies was held on Monday, 24 February 2003.

Welcome to the website of Ahlia University (AU) in Bahrain. This site is designed to give as much information about the university as possible. It includes facts regarding the vision of the founders, mission statements, the programs we offer, tuition fees and scholarships.

The University is founded by eminent persons from the academic and business world, who are known for their contributions and their awareness of the importance of developing human resources.

The educational philosophy of the university lays emphasis on the training of minds for thought rather than stuffing it with an inert body of facts and formulae, on expanding the technical and scientific imagination of the student rather than being limited to the well-worn but outmoded tracks. Guided by such convictions, the university will give its graduates an education that enables them to comprehend the dynamism and complexity of contemporary global processes and empowers them to guide those processes in constructive directions.

AU will integrate liberal studies and professional education to give its graduates specialization within a soundboard perspective. It will provide its students with a cultural and educational foundation for leadership in professional careers and service in an age of electronic communications, global economics, social pluralism and political interdependence. It will also provide an educational environment in which students can realize their individual potential and prepare to pursue their aspirations.

The mission of the university will be achieved through a combination of traditional and innovative teaching methods. It will admit students solely on the basis of their academic qualifications regardless of race, religion, sect, or gender. The creation of a multicultural, coeducational, international academic community is both a means and an end in the mission of the university.
