| ECON 594: Commercial Law: (3-0-3) Commercial law regulates the sale of goods and services. This course primarily explores, in a comparative law perspective, the commercial sale of goods and the various statutes which affect business to business, and business to consumer, transactions. An extension of this is the study of international sales, the machinery of exporting and importing effected by cif or fob contracts etc., and the means of financing such contracts. Finally specific forms of secured business finance will be studied (the conditional sale, hire purchase, financial leasing, debentures and fixed and floating charges). This course also introduces two key aspects of commercial law: fundamental principles of contract law and transnational commercial arbitration. |
