ITCS 596: Distributed Communications: (3-0-3) This course imparts an understanding of how the Web was created and how mobile computing started, what are the building blocks behind these technologies, and what problems future technological development might engender in a distributed application environment. Three main themes dominate: (1) communication requirements over the web(characteristics and operating requirements of Web-based systems including Web resource management, accessibility and security); (2) mark-up languages for the Web; and (3) mobile communications using the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP)
