Ahlia
University is pleased to announce that the Center of Bioengineering
and Health Technology is launching its premier pilot programme
in the field of Physiotherapy. Two tracks in Physiotherapy,
a two-year associate degree and a four-year bachelor degree,
will prepare graduates to assume positions as physiotherapy
technicians and professional physiotherapists respectively.
Burgeoning demand in this health sector in the entire
Gulf region means that graduates can look forward to obtaining
jobs, particularly in clinics and hospitals, rapidly upon
graduation and, because the Center’s Physiotherapy
Programme incorporates extensive clinical experience into
the curricula, transition for graduates from the academic
to the vocational environment will be nearly effortless.
Cooperation between leading physiotherapy clinics in Bahrain
and Ahlia University is very intensive.
Dr. Mohammed Al-Anzoor and Dr. Ahmed Rustam, two leading
physiotherapist practitioners in Bahrain, are joining
forces with Ahlia University to provide the core of academic
talent undergirding a Physiotherapy Programme unrivalled
in the Gulf. Along with distinguished colleagues, Dr.
Al-Anzoor and Dr. Rustam will develop and teach the Physiotherapy
curriculum at Ahlia. Moreover, Dr Al-Anzoor is currently
serving as Director of Physiotherapy in the Center of
Bioengineering & Health Technology.
Ahlia University granted admission to the physiotherapy Programme to an inaugural cohort effective Term1 (Fall Semester) which included two of the five President's Awards Recipients. (See News concerning the President's Scholarship and Dean's List Award Recipients.) However, Ahlia University is accepting applications currently for a limited number of places in the Center's Physiotherapy Programme for those students wishing to matriculate in Term2 (Spring Semester) and Ahlia's Department of Admissions and Registration urges all interested candidates for each of the two programme tracks to submit applications as soon as possible for admission in Term2. Decisions on admissions to this programme will be made on a rolling basis and qualified candidates will be offered a place on a first-come, first-serve basis.
